Workshop #3 New Date - Nov 14

Due to a conflict with the Science Lab, we've had to move our Clay Docent Workshop #3 to Thursday, November 14, 2013.  Same time - 8-11:30am.

This will be our last workshop for the school year.  So if you want to make the grade-level projects, you have one more chance.

If you have already may your grade-level projects, this workshop is a great opportunity to glaze your projects.

If you have any questions regarding the three sculpting techniques or glazing techniques, please ask one of the Clay Docent Committee Members during the workshop.

Reminder: Next Clay Docent Workshop - Oct 15th, 8-11:30am

We will be having our second Clay Docent Workshop on Tuesday, Oct 15th, from 8-11:30am in the Science Lab.

We will be going over glazing techniques from 8:30-9:30am.

If you attended our first Clay Docent Workshop you will be able to glaze your pieces.  All the pieces sculpted in the first workshop have been fired and are ready for glazing.

If you missed our first Clay Docent Workshop, it's OK.  You can still learn the three sculpting techniques and make the 3 grade-level projects.  Just ask one of the Clay Docent Committee Members.

Note:  All Clay Docent Workshops are on a drop-in basis.

Thank You for Attending the Clay Docent Workshop

Thank you Clay Docent Volunteers for attending our first workshop.  It was great seeing everyone and meeting the new parents.

Everyone did a fantastic job creating their pieces.

If you were unable to attend the Clay Docent Workshop, there are two more Clay Docent Workshops scheduled:

• Oct 15th
• Nov 12th

All workshops are on a Tuesday from 8-11:30am in the Science Lab.  The workshops are on a drop-in basis.

Clay Docent Workshop #1 - Tuesday, Sept 10, 2013

Your creative kids need you.  Join us to help bring out the creativity and imagination of all our kids.  Clay Docent needs your help (in the classroom and behind the scenes) and your kids will love your involvement with the program.

We will three Open House Workshops scheduled to go over the details of the Clay Docent Program.  You’ll be trained on various clay techniques and even learn to create fantastic pieces of your own.  Don’t worry - We'll have all the supplies and tools ready for you!

Our first Open House Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 8:00-11:30am in the Science Lab.

Here is the complete schedule of the Clay Docent Workshops

• Workshop #1 - September 10, 2013
• Workshop #2 - October 15, 2013
• Workshop #3 - November 12, 2013

All workshops are from 8:00-11:30am in the Science Lab.  Attendance at all three workshop is not required.

For those new to the program, the Clay Docent Workshops are on a drop-in basis.  From 8:30-9:30am, there will be a demonstration of the 3 clay techniques (slab, pinch and coil) that will be used for the 3 grade level projects.  If you cannot be there for the clay technique demonstration, you can ask one of the Clay Docent Committee Members for a demonstration any time during the Workshop.  

With everyone's busy schedules, we understand that you may not be able to attend all three workshops.  Therefore, we recommend that you try to make all three of your grade level projects at your first workshop.  Then at the next workshop, if you were not able to complete all of the projects you can then do so.

For those families returning to Blue Hills "Welcome Back" and for those families new to Blue Hills "Welcome".  As soon the upper grades rotation schedules are set, we will schedule our Open House Workshops and post the dates and times here on our website.

For now, the Clay Docent Committee has a few requests for some donated items:

• Old Towels - any size
• Left over wallpaper or old wallpaper samples
• Newspapers

May 20th - Save the Date

By May 20th, all the classes will have completed their last projects.  So that can only mean one thing - "Time to clean-up all the Clay Docent supplies, take inventory and clean up the kiln room".
